I would like to welcome you to our dynamic and rewarding Civil Engineering undergraduate program. Civil engineering majors at ASU have the option to complete a general civil engineering degree or to concentrate in construction engineering or environmental engineering. The Civil Engineering program is fully accredited by the American Board of Technical Registration (ABET).
We have recently reformed both undergraduate admission standards and undergraduate curriculum in order to better control enrollment and quality of students. The undergraduate curriculum was streamlined to allow most students to graduate in four years and build in Fulton aspirations such as leadership, communication skills, and business expertise in our students.
The curriculum exposes students to various areas of civil engineering including construction engineering, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, structures, transportation, and water resources. The civil engineering curriculum prepares students for graduate degrees, Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and Professional Engineering (PE) registration.
Undergraduate students have numerous opportunities to get involved in research. The Fulton Undergraduate Research Initiative (FURI) provides funds for motivated students to enhance their intellectual ability while enriching their graduate school aspirations or entry into industry. In addition, scholarships and internship opportunities are available. The student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers is extremely active, competing in concrete canoe and bridge building contests against other chapters and hosting regional conferences.
Our undergraduate academic advisor, Lauren Levin, and I will be glad to answer your questions and help you throughout your stay at ASU.
